On the 1st October, we will be launching Stoptober in County Durham and our team of stop smoking advisors will be working across the county to encourage locals to join the 28 day challenge to quit smoking and ‘split up’ with cigarettes!
We are hosting coffee mornings throughout the month of October reaching out to smokers to give up the habit for good. Stop smoking advisors will be on hand to offer advice and free CO monitoring from the mobile clinic as well as free refreshments, fun quiz and colouring activities for the kids. We offer a free tailor-made programme of support from specialist stop smoking advisors to help smokers to quit.
A full list of our events can be found in the events section of the website.
Stoptober is the annual campaign from Public Health England (PHE) that encourages smokers across the country to join in and give quitting a go during October. Since launching in 2012, Stoptober has driven over 1.9 million quit attempts and is the biggest mass participation quit attempt in the country. Stoptober is based on research that smokers who make it to 28 days smokefree are five times more likely to quit for good. This year’s campaign will encourage smokers to re-evaluate their relationship with smoking and ‘split up’ with cigarettes. For free support to quit smoking contact a stop smoking advisor on 0800 772 0565 or text QUIT to 66777.
